SOUTH CENTRAL IDAHO

RESOURCE DIRECTORY

Text Box: A Special Note:
This directory would not have been possible without the assistance of the 2-1-1 Idaho CareLine, Deb Krum with Mountain States Group, Region IV Development Association (RIVDA), Young Offender Demonstration Project, Youth Yellow Pages, U.S. Department of Labor, and Magic Valley Youth and Adult Services. Thank-you!

This directory serves the eight county South Central Idaho region, which is an area designated as “District 5” by service providers such as Health and Welfare and the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections.  This area is also designated as “Region 4” by the State, for Economic Development purposes.  The eight counties in South Central Idaho include:  Blaine, Camas, Cassia, Gooding, Jerome, Lincoln, Minidoka, Twin Falls

USING THE RESOURCE DIRECTORY

There are two ways to view the RESOURCE DIRECTORY:

1.  Position your computer mouse over the link above and left-click.  This will open the file in Microsoft Excel.

2.  Position your computer mouse over the file name DIRECTORY IN PDF to open the resource directory in Adobe Acrobat format.  This is an abbreviated file that lists only basic contact information sorted by keyword.

Once the file is open:

The database is already sorted alphabetically by KEYWORD in Column A.  Scroll down to find the keyword you are seeking (such as Alcohol Abuse, Counseling, Employment, Homeless, etc.)  Note:  If you are not familiar with computers, “scroll down” by either pressing down on the down arrow key, or by positioning your mouse arrow on the slide bar on the right-hand side of your screen, and holding down the left-click button on your mouse while moving the slide bar down or up.

FOR MICROSOFT EXCEL USERS:

You can re-sort to view the database in a variety of options, such as by CITY, by ZIP CODE, AREA SERVED or PROGRAM NAME by following these instructions:

¨ Locate the column you wish to sort by.  You can sort by any column.

¨ Position mouse arrow on the alphabetical column heading (A, B, C, D, E …) and click on the column heading.

This will highlight the entire column.

¨ Click DATA on your toolbar and then click on SORT.  If you have highlighted any column except A, a ‘Sort

Warning’ box will appear asking if you would like to ‘Expand the Selection’ – click the ‘Sort’ button to indicate

              your affirmative.

¨ In the ‘Sort By’ drop-down box that opens in the SORT option, choose the column description that matches

your preference (i.e. Actual City, Zip, Language) and click OK.

Please note:  The Excel database is in READ ONLY format. If you wish to save it on your hard drive after re-sorting, you will need to save it under a different file name.

Many of the listings have their own website address listed under the column “Website Address”.  You can copy the address and paste it into your web browser if you would like.  The websites often post additional information such as detailed referral procedures or eligibility requirements.   Some website addresses will direct you to their home page, rather than the specific page you are looking for.  Most website home pages have a Site Map or Site Directory link posted on their main page.

Also, a very special thank-you to youth workers Michael Castillo, Gooding, and Josue Vela, Twin Falls, who spent several months contacting area service providers for inclusion in the database.  They received recognition for their efforts from Governor Dirk Kempthorne in February, 2005.
